Alejandro Beato
Alejandro became an active member of N2N-MA in the summer of 2010. He was looking to use his organizing experience at the local level in Lynn. After he connected with two board members and learned about N2N-MA, he took straight to the doors through our Voter Empowerment Campaign. He motivated and educated dozens of voters in the most marginalized voting precincts in Lynn.
When we learned of his carpentry and electrical skills, as well as his experience developing workers cooperatives in his native country, the Dominican Republic, we plugged him into our Lynn green jobs pilot program. He did not hesitate to take advantage of the job training opportunity to learn to do weatherization work and began to recruit additional workers to be trained.
Now, Alejandro is a leader in the program and looking forward to improving the quality of life of his family and neighbors. He educates others about the benefits of retrofitting and the creation of jobs as a result of the pilot program.
